Gästemeinungen«Nice hotel; nice staff»Geofbob, London, Jun 1, 2007 My wife and I have just stayed at this hotel for 6 nights, and found it excellent for the price we paid - we got a 3 nights for 2 discount. The room and bathroom wern't large, but we have certainly stayed in smaller. The TV had lots of channels, inc CNN. There was a good range of food at the buffet breakfast, inc CHAMPAGNE, which we much appreciated! The hotel also has some attractive modern art on view. DO NOT be influenced by the review on this website which says the staff were rude, and that they had the worst experience of their life. We found the staff not just courteous, but very friendly and helpful. Two or three downsides are 1. that though fairly close to the station the hotel is up a steep hill, (but trams 6 and 10 from the station stop right at the hotel) and 2. that if you're in a front room the trams can be quite noisy, but if you close the window it can be quite warm, and there is partial a/c but not enough to totally cool the room. This TripAdvisor Member: Date of Stay: May, 2007 My ratings for this hotel are: Would I recommend this hotel to my best friend? I recommend this hotel for: I selected this hotel as a top choice for: «Unlike the North American Comfort Inns»palk, Toronto, Oct 3, 2006 The Comfort Inn Royal (centre of the City ) is a good deal. As a lone traveller I was staying 1 night and wanted to get a feel of the City instead of staying near the airport. Since my luggage went on to a further destination, I only had a carry-on & decided to take the train which is in the airport. 3 stops and 10 minutes, I arrived at the Main Station. I had received instructions from Comfort which tram to take and it was only 2 stops. The hotel is not new but, unlike the North American Comfort Inns had a continuous nice small bar for self serve, coffee, tea, etc. and a wonderful European buffet breakfast. My room was a economy room. --very small (tiny) and compact but fine for 1 night. Their other rooms from photos appear to be very nice, but not elaborate. Make sure you get a room NOT on the street side as the trams go all night. The tram stops in front of the hotel and it is 2 stops to the shopping districts on both sides of the river. I would recommend this as an economy hotel with very good amenities and extremely nice staff. Shuttle to Airport 24 SF. «Comfortable hotel and good value for a very expensive city.»GeorgeATL, Atlanta, Georgia, Apr 21, 2007 I’m a travel agent, and have stayed in many hotels around the world. . . Some good. . . Some really bad. I used to live in Zurich, and have returned several times and have always stayed at this hotel. So I speak from experience. Let me tell you what you can expect at this hotel, and then you make up your mind if you would like to stay here. What the hotel offers: Nice (but not perfect) location. Though this hotel is within walking distance of the main train station and the Bahnhofstrasse (main shopping area) it’s a few blocks away. Zurich has a tram system (streetcars) which will take you everywhere. This hotel is located two stops from the main strain station. If you plan on doing some sightseeing, I would recommend you purchase a “tageskarte” which gives you unlimited travel on the tram system. This hotel is located right around the corner from the “Niederdorf” which is the old part of the city. If you’re looking for a hotel located at the train station, then you should stay at the (much more expensive) Schweizerhof. But again, for the price, it has a very nice location. Staff: I’ll give this area “mixed reviews”. It all depends upon who is at the front desk. Some people are more friendly than others. I haven’t had a “horrible” experience with the staff but I would say that some of them are not the friendliest in the world. Nonetheless, I have never felt thought that I shouldn’t stay here because of the staff. In the end, you need to consider what kind of person you are. Do you stay at Ritz-Carlton’s, Hyatt’s, Fairmont’s, and other luxury hotels? Then I would recommend you stay at the Bauer Au Lac, Savoy, Park Zurich Hyatt. If you’re looking for an affordable, comfortable hotel with a reasonably good location, then this hotel is probably for you. PLEASE NOTE: If you are driving, you must contact the hotel directly to “reserve” a parking space. They have only 12 spaces, and sometime you even have to park tandem, so make sure you contact the hotel in advance, otherwise you could be driving around trying to find a place to park. Danke! My ratings for this hotel are: |
